History
The Mercer County Retired Teachers Association started as a combined
Auglaize-Mercer County Chapter RTA from May 20, 1967 through 1974.
Then on December 10, 1974, interested members met in Citizens Commercial Bank
to organize their own chapter. Dr. Howard P. Smith became the first President of MCRTA with 34 members.
MCRTA continues to serve the retirees of Mercer County, and joins with other chapters of ORTA
in maintaining and improving the welfare of those who have given unselfishly of their time and talents
in preparing the youth for future challenges they will face.
